It is my privilege to offer my support for Paul McManus in his candidacy for High Bailiff of Chittenden County.
As the Sheriff of Washington County, I understand firsthand the importance of selecting individuals who possess not only integrity and professionalism, but also a comprehensive understanding of the unique responsibilities and operations of a Sheriff’s Office. The role of High Bailiff is far more than ceremonial; it requires someone who understands the complexities of law enforcement leadership, civil process, sound fiscal practices, and the statutory responsibilities that accompany the position. Paul has demonstrated that he possesses this knowledge and the judgment necessary to serve effectively if called upon.
Equally important for the High Bailiff is the trust and confidence he has earned from the men and women who serve alongside him within the Sheriff’s Office. Effective leadership is built on credibility, and Paul has established himself as someone whose character, work ethic, and commitment to public service have earned the respect of Sheriff’s Office personnel. That trust is invaluable in a position where continuity, stability, and sound decision-making are essential.
Throughout my career, I have also come to appreciate the importance of strong partnerships between agencies. Public safety is most effective when law enforcement professionals work collaboratively across jurisdictions, share resources, and support one another in achieving common goals. Paul understands the value of these relationships and consistently demonstrates an ability to work cooperatively with law enforcement agencies throughout the region. His approach serves both the Chittenden County Sheriff’s Office and its partner agencies exceptionally well.
The citizens of Chittenden County deserve a High Bailiff who is knowledgeable, respected, and prepared to fulfill the responsibilities of the office with professionalism and integrity. I am confident that Paul McManus embodies those qualities and will serve the County with distinction.
Respectfully,
Sheriff Marc Poulin
